The European Commission Expert Group on Urban Mobility (EGUM) has released recommendations aimed at improving road safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and users of light electric vehicles.
- The key proposal is for the Commission to advise all European cities to implement 30 km/h speed limits, as excessive vehicle speed is a major cause of road collisions.
- These recommendations support the EU’s “Vision Zero” strategy to eliminate road deaths by 2050.
The recommendations were widely supported by the EGUM, which includes nearly 80 representatives from national and local governments, civil society, and industry. Let’s make sure they are not forgotten and implemented!
